Before starting the job hunt

First, analyze your overall situation (Education, experience, strengths, abilities, etc.) and make a detailed description of your dream company and dream job, after that write a CV that will highlight the competencies that match your dream job. There are plenty of resources on the internet that explain in great detail how to write an awesome resume, so we will not talk about this subject here.

Put Your CV on Popular job hunting platforms

This will allow companies and recruiting agencies to see your resume and send you offers if your profile matches their needs. It’s an automatic way of seeking a job. You can start by doing this before using other job-hunting techniques.

An internet search will inform you about the best and most popular job hunting platform in China, so I will not talk about this subject here. I might write a specific article about this topic in the future.

Contact your dream company

At the beginning of our job search, we created a very detailed description of our dream job and dream company. We can now use that description to look for companies that match our requirements. I advise you to call the company directly and ask for the HR department contact. They will review your resume and make you an offer if you match the company’s current recruiting needs.

Sending your CV through the company mail address will probably land your CV in a bottomless pit with no responses most of the time.

Attend Job Fairs

Most large companies recruit on a yearly basis, by this I mean that the company will make a recruitment compaign at least once each quarter and accept higly qualified employes if they show up, so large companies HR departments will mostly attend the majority of the year job fairs in a defined city. Make a research on internet about the job fairs occurring in your city or even in other cities if you plan to work there and attend the work fair.
You can then visit the companies stands you are interested in and have an understanding of those companies main business.

Ask for a recommendation from friends

This is usually the most straightforward way of finding a job. You can post a message on different social media platforms highlighting your abilities and the kind of job you are looking for. People will share your message, and organizations in need of your services will contact you.

Job Hunting Mindset

Patience

Your job hunt might be short or long. If you receive many job offers within a week of starting your job search, do not hurry. Choose your job according to the specifications you set at the beginning. Since we already stated the kind of job we are looking for very early in the process, it will be very clear to select the most appropriate job offer.

If you still haven’t received any offers after a few months or feel like you’re not making any progress, it’s alright. Our job search might be long and tedious, but we have to stay persistent and focused.
You should not stay at home and isolate yourself from others; you should maintain your social contacts and be aware of what is happening in your industry.

Self-improvement

During the time you don’t have a full-time job, you will have plenty of free time, you should use that time at your benefit. You can do that, by mastering a skill in an area that you have a deep interest in, by learning a new language, by trying a new sport, by reading a few books, by learning a new ability, by following an online course, or whatsoever you have an interest in, the goal is to improve massively during that time, because once you will have a full time job, you will not have that much time for yourself.

You should avoid falling into a depression during that time, catch an addiction for online games, TV shows or any other activities that will not improve your overall competitiveness. When you are looking for a job and do not feel like getting anywhere, it’s normal to feel depressed or low on energy, however, you have to remind yourself that every situation has its advantages and drawbacks, so you should focus on the strengths of your actual situation and maximize your profits.

Job hunting awareness

What happens if two months after starting my job hunt, I still haven’t found my dream job? For people with tight finances, I advise taking on the opportunities that are available and first trying to get successful results with the current job opportunity. It might also indicate that you need to adjust your job hunt profile to the current job market.
Take on part-time jobs as they will allow you to stay active and keep your social circle fresh.
